Community, Culture and Continuity
Savannah Benally wants her children to know who they are and where they belong.
As a Highline parent and former staff member, she has seen what happens when students feel welcome, valued and safe. Now, she sees that same experience through her children at Madrona Elementary School.
In this episode of The Promise Podcast, Savannah joins Superintendent Dr. Ivan Duran to share her family’s story, her connection to Highline and what gives her hope for the future.
Savannah shares how the Native Education Program creates community and connections for families, and why representation and identity matter in school. She also reflects on a moment when her daughter felt safe and supported, and the one word she keeps coming back to when she thinks about the future: continuity.
