Greetings Highline Community:
It is a great honor to begin my role as your new superintendent. The opportunity to serve Highline’s students, staff, families, and community is a source of great joy, excitement, and optimism. Thank you again to our school board for its confidence in my leadership. I am also extremely grateful for the tremendous legacy of excellence created by the school board, Dr. Enfield, and the district’s leadership, educators, staff, and community.
The Highline Promise is concise and direct: Every student in Highline Public Schools is known by name, strength and need, and graduates prepared for the future they choose. It is a promise I strongly believe in. It is a commitment to invest in our students first and foremost, and I am committed to that investment in partnership with our community.
Highline’s Strategic Plan challenges us as a community to embrace bold goals for every student. It is driven by a sincere belief in our students' abilities and their aspirations for the future. I will build upon the equity work in our Strategic Plan so that all students have an equal chance at success.
This summer, I will continue to listen and learn as I meet with our district team, students, families, and other community members. I am learning a lot about our 35 schools and the communities of Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac, and White Center.
On a personal note, I want to introduce my family. My wife Kelly is a fellow educator, and we are the parents of two young, energetic, and bilingual boys. Kelly and I are committed to raising our sons to be racially aware, culturally literate, and advocates for a better world. My family inspires and blesses me everyday.
I look forward to meeting more members of our community as we learn and work together. Dr. Enfield asked me to promise that I will love this district as much as she does. I already do.
