Dedicated implementation of Positive Behavior Supports and Ruler to address student’s social and emotional well being at school. Teachers and staff promote positive, respectful interactions to encourage a sense of belonging in a positive learning community. Teachers implement research based restorative practices in their class meetings to foster respectful relationships, agreements, routines and student-centered problem solving.

Average daily attendance increased and remains at the highest level in the district. Students were regularly recognized for attendance efforts. Research confirms that regular school attendance directly affects student success.

We celebrate strong community partnerships alongside our PTA, which sponsors monthly Family Fun Nights to promote family connections at Beverly Park. Families enjoy community potlucks, literacy and math celebrations, and Family Fitness Night.

Reading Partners is well-established at Beverly Park and was showcased to the Seattle media for its impact in supporting young readers. Reading Partners is a community-based volunteer tutoring program supporting striving readers in grades K-4. This year more than 53 community volunteers spent time twice weekly reading and supporting 63 students to improve their love for reading!

Students participated in school and community before and after school in clubs: Soccer for Success, Performing Arts Club, Music / Choir, Basketball, Girls on the Run, after school tutoring. Students competed in district Math Bonanza and King County Library Global Reading Competitions earning district team and individual recognitions.

The Highline Schools Foundation sponsored Beverly Park with shoe donations in every size and color through their (Kicks for Kids) program!

Plans for 2018-19

Beverly Park will continue to focus on improving instruction and student achievement through a precise and specific school improvement plan.  Beverly Park is designated a Comprehensive Support School receiving support and guidance toward meeting standards by the school district and OSPI.

We will create a collaborative culture working with students, families, and instructors on shared responsibility and high expectations for teaching and learning.

Staff will continue to study and align their work with the Common Core Standards to ensure that students gain the knowledge and skills in their daily standards based activities, feedback, assessments, materials, curriculum, and instruction.

We will continue to implement a school wide art pilot because we value creativity and a belief that arts education (including music, dance, theatre, and visual arts) is vital to the development of every human being.

We will invite our English learning students and families to Beverly Park, knowing we place a high value on bilingualism.  We support our student’s first language proficiency as they learn and acquire English for school and academic purposes.
